Prof. Dr. Susanna Elm is the Sidney H. Ehrman Professor of European History in the Departments of History and Classics at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research focuses on the intersections of culture and power in the Later Roman Empire. She is author of Sons of Hellenism, Fathers of the Church: Emperor Julian, Gregory of Nazianus, and the Vision of Rome (Berkeley 2012; Winner of the SCS Goodwin Award of Merit 2013), and of Emperor and Eunuch: Powerful Bodies and Imperial Representation in the Theodosian Age (Berkeley forthcoming).
Dr. Rocco Selvaggi is the Academic Coordinator of the RomanIslam Center for Comparative Empire and Transcultural Studies, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and based at the University of Hamburg. His research focuses on the 5th century AD: diplomatic relations between the Western Roman Empire and the Germanic tribes, foreign policy of Suebi and Vandals, communication between the bishops of Rome and the Iberian Peninsula. His recent publications include: "Erfolgreiche Vertragskonzepte oder foedera incerta? Die weströmische Außenpolitik des 5. Jhs. im Spiegel der römisch-germanischen Verträge" (Hamburg 2020); "Iberia Pontificia, vol. VII. Hispania Romana und Visigothica (Regesta Pontificum Romanorum)", with S. Panzram and L. Livorsi (Göttingen, 2022).
Dr. Claudia Tavolieri holds a PhD in Syriac language and literature from the PIB in Rome and is a founding member of the scientific group 'Syriaca. Associazione Italiana di Studi Siriaci'. From 2008 to 2011 she was a research fellow at the University of Tuscia (VT) and from 2012 to 2015 she was a research fellow in Late Antiquity at the Department of Humanistic Studies at the University of Rome, Roma Tre. Since 2011 she has become an adjunct professor of Roman History for several universities and currently teaches at the University of Rome, 'Tor Vergata'. Since 2020 she has been a member of the scientific committee of the journal 'Studi sull'Oriente Cristiano'.
